This dual channel flame photometry gas chromatography machine exceeds the functionality of a single channel flame photometric detector system in many ways and is in some instances the only option for certain EPA Methods. Single Channel flame photometry analysis can also be conducted on this machine.
Agilent GC FPD with Mass Spectrometer
By adding the 5975 C Triple Axis Mass Selective Detector to this GC FPD setup the types of analysis that can be conducted is highly expanded. So this combination allows for Mass Spectrometry Analysis, Single Channel Flame Photometric Detector Analysis and Dual FPD (DFPD).

Why Buy a Dual FPD GC (DFPD) vs Single Channel FPD
First and foremost, a dual can do single channel flame photometry analysis, so at minimum there is no reason not to. Many labs choose dual because by using separate photomultiplier tubes and optical filters for each element more comprehensive analysis can be performed in a single run compared to single-channel FPDs, which can only detect one type of element at a time.
