Price and cost of ownership of Agilent 6890N GC

Investing in an Agilent 6890N GC requires careful consideration of both the purchase price and long-term ownership costs. A new system costs around $43,000, while a refurbished unit with a warranty averages $16,000, offering substantial savings. Beyond the initial investment, ongoing expenses include carrier gases like helium or hydrogen, consumables such as columns, liners, septa, and syringes, as well as routine maintenance. Additionally, software licenses, updates, and compliance costs may apply, particularly in regulated industries. Long-term ownership also involves service and repair costs, which can be significant if major components like the detector, injector, or electronic control modules fail. A certified refurbished Agilent 6890N GC can help reduce costs while maintaining performance and reliability, as it undergoes rigorous testing and comes with a warranty. For laboratories seeking to optimize their budget, balancing the upfront investment with ongoing operational expenses is essential for a cost-effective decision.
