Price and cost of ownership of Agilent 1260

Investing in an Agilent 1260 HPLC system requires careful consideration of both the purchase price and long-term ownership costs. A new system costs approximately $82,500, while a refurbished unit with a warranty averages $30,000, offering substantial savings. Beyond the initial investment, ongoing expenses include solvents, columns, vials, and regular maintenance to ensure accurate and reliable results. Additional costs may include software licenses, updates, and compliance fees, particularly in regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals, environmental testing, and food analysis. Long-term ownership also involves potential service and repair expenses, which can be significant if components like the pump, detector, or autosampler require replacement. A certified refurbished Agilent 1260 provides a cost-effective alternative while maintaining reliable performance, as it undergoes comprehensive testing and comes with a warranty. For laboratories seeking to maximize their budget, balancing the upfront purchase price with ongoing operational costs is essential for long-term financial efficiency.
